In ancient times human beings where much more connected to the universe, the elements and themselves, and lived in harmony with the whole of creation. At that time through deep meditation and scientific experiments, Ayurveda was created. Ayurveda literally means the knowledge of life. It is a few thousand years old and it is the origin of all eastern medicine. It teaches us how to live life in the most healthy, balanced, and happy way. Not to renounce life. It teaches us how to enjoy life, both with our body and mind, with our senses and our souls.
In this workshop we will learn about the different constitutions of the body. Each one of the participants will answer a questionnaire to get an idea about her/his own individual Dosha (constitution). We will explore in which ways we can balance our constitution, through life style, diet and through Asana and Pranayama (yoga posture and breathing exercises). We will especially dwell on which kind of Yoga practice, which kind of postures, and breathing exercises fits to each constitution.
In the second part of the workshop we will practice three Dosha balancing Yoga sequence, while giving direct reference which of the practices fits to which Dosha. When a specific practice doesn’t fit you individually we will offer one for you to replace it with.
Shir started his yoga journey in 2004 taking traditional Hatha yoga classes. As a professional musician in order to improve his body awareness and body posture Shir studied Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais Method. While leaving Israel he practiced mainly Vijnana Yoga, a yoga style invented by Orit San-Gupta. It is a mix of Iyengar and slow flow that brings a lot of awareness into yoga postures as well as to the breathing techniques. In Vijnana yoga there is emphasis on the different Vayus (spaces) of the body. Many yogic imprints in Shir’s practice are from this yoga style.
In his quest of searching for more subtle experiences of yoga and understanding how to strive towards yoga, Shir looked for a living master. At that time he found his Guru, Sri Dharma Mittra. By meeting him Shir felt that many of his questions about how to live yoga fully were answered. That meeting helped Shir to have a rapid progress in his own Sadhana (practice of yoga towards self realization). Shir completed the advance teacher training with Dharma Mittra, with eternal feeling of gratefulness.
Shir has been teaching yoga for the last 7 years sharing his knowledge all over the world, in regular classes as well as giving special workshops in various topics, such as Master Classes, Pranayama-Bandha-Mudra-Laya, Yoga of sounds, Mantra chanting, Detox and more.
Traveling and teaching mostly in India in the last years Shir has been focusing on Teacher Training Courses, as well as on the more subtle aspects of Yoga. Finding the joy sharing Kundalini Tantra, Ayurveda and Yoga Nidra, his path is taking him deeper into the journey of Yoga.
